Francophone Worlds

Monthly Workshop Series

“Francophone Worlds” is a series of monthly workshops addressing cultural issues related to the diversity of francophone cultures. Each one hour-workshop consists of a presentation by a scholar on a special topic, then followed by a Q&A. This series engages with the histories of the French language and reflects on the hopes and challenges they raise today. The workshop is open to all levels of French and is conducted in English.

For its ninth session, “Francophone Worlds” will have the privilege of welcoming Felix Jean-Louis III, Assistant Professor of History at the University of California, Irvine. He will be sharing his current research with a presentation titled "Haitians and the making of the Afro-Francophone community, 1885-1936”.
