IN REMEMBRANCE OF DOROTHY KROKO
May 6, 1928 ~ January 28, 2025
Dorothy was born in Ohio and graduated from high school after WWII. She received her BA from the University of Chicago, and worked at the Chicago Museum of Art. Her family moved to Southern California in the 1960’s, and opened a small engineering company in Tustin. Dorothy was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved good food, good wine, and good conversation. She loved the mountains, walks on the beach, hiking, cycling, tennis, gardening, cooking, and baking. An avid reader, she appreciated good literature, art, and music, especially classical.
Passionate about learning, speaking, and reading French, she challenged herself and friends with literature from Proust’s Swann’s Way, A la recherche du temps perdu, to Le Petit Prince, and French plays, to the whimsical adventures of Asterix, Le Petit Nicolas, TinTin, Pierre Lapin, Alice au pays des merveilles, and many more. Dorothy had a unique sense of humor, a keen curiosity in the world around her, and with the heart of a poet, she found beauty in unexpected places. She never stopped learning, and lived life fully. She was kind and compassionate, always cheering for the underdog--- a kindred spirit, dearly loved--- she will be missed by all of us who knew her.
Long-time member and supporter of the Alliance Française de la Riviera Californienne,
Great admirer and lover of all things French,
Reposez-en paix ~ Chère Amie
