This lecture will be given by Guillaume Mure, graduated in History from University of Clermont-Ferrand and Sciences Po Paris.

Come discover an unrecognized time of French history: the Bourbon Restoration (1814-1830), which marked the end of the Napoleonic era and the return to the monarchy.  Those 15 years established contemporary France with the implementation of equal rights, recognition of fundamental freedoms, and the birth of parliamentarianism and political parties.

The Restoration also followed a centuries-old tradition.  It was notable for the last French royal coronation of a king.  It was a fascinating moment, an attempt to combine the return to the monarchy with the democratic achievements of the French Revolution!  Instead, the desperate attempt resulted in the Second French Revolution in 1830.

All levels.
