Francophone Worlds

Monthly Workshop Series

“Francophone Worlds” is a series of monthly workshops addressing cultural issues related to the diversity of francophone cultures. Each one hour-workshop will consist of a group discussion focusing on specific materials communicated in advance to registered participants. The ambition of this series is to engage with the histories of the French language in various parts of the world, and to reflect on the hopes and challenges they raise today. Depending on the participants’ average level of French, the decision to conduct the workshop in French or English will be made on a case by case basis. This is to ensure that everyone interested in exploring these worlds feels welcome to participate.

The first session of “Francophone Worlds” will zero in on the Caribbean: “Creole and French in the Caribbean”. The discussion will be mainly based on short texts written by the philosopher and poet Édouard Glissant (1928-2011).
