The silent "e" in French is a letter that is spelled and not pronounced. Very often, these "e" are optional when speaking and skipped in everyday, informal conversations. If you can understand a written text better than a conversation or audio document, it might be an indicator that you don't hear where the silent "e" are skipped. Learning about the most common words and expressions where the "e" are missing is a great way to work on your oral comprehension skills and pronunciation.
